Chargers Drop Monday Road Game at Delta State

CLEVELAND, Miss. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team dropped a road contest on Monday night, falling 64-42 to host Delta State. The Chargers slip to 5-4 (5-4 Gulf South Conference), while the Lady Statesmen improve to 4-7 (4-7 GSC).
 
Turning Point
-The Lady Statesmen outscored UAH 23-8 in the fourth quarter to earn the split of the two-game series.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Holly Harris paced UAH as she scored 13, while Selena Pruitt joined her in double figures with 12.
-Alexis Woods led UAH on the glass with six rebounds.
-Olivia Smith had a team-best four assists to go along with four rebounds.
-For the contest, Delta State shot 44.6 percent while the Chargers connected on 31.4 percent of their attempts, and the hosts held a 49-25 advantage on the glass.
-Turnovers were even at 15 for each team, but the Lady Statesmen built up a 20-10 edge in points off giveaways.
 
Inside the Flow
-The first quarter was a tight battle between the two teams with neither side able to build up more than a four-point advantage, and it was the Chargers who would lead 16-15 going into the second.
-Going in front by as many as 10, DSU would outscore the guests 15-6 in the second quarter to build up a 30-22 halftime lead.
-UAH would pull within five on three different occasions in the third quarter before Delta State was able to generate a 41-34 advantage going into the final quarter.
-The hosts then had the big fourth to seal the contest.
 
Noteworthy
-Harris has scored in double figures in seven of the team's nine games, and she is now averaging 13.0 points per contest.
-Smith establishes a season-high with the four assists, giving her seven for the series. 
 
Next Time Out
-The Chargers are scheduled to return to action on Friday when West Alabama visits Huntsville to start a two-game series. Tip-off at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall is slated for 6 p.m.
