UAH Earns Friday Night Home Win Over West Alabama

HUNTSVILLE | Leading wire to wire, The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team earned a 68-59 victory over visiting West Alabama on Friday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers improve to 6-4 (6-4 Gulf South Conference), while the Tigers slip to 6-5 (6-5 GSC).

Turning Point
-UAH scored the first 10 points of the game and ultimately never looked back while improving its hold on second place in the GSC West Division.

Inside the Box Score
-Four Chargers reached double figures in the game, led by Holly Harris who scored 18 while also grabbing four rebounds and matching Olivia Smith with a team-high four assists.
-Selena Pruitt knocked down four shots from downtown on her way to scoring 16, while Alexis Woods logged yet another double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds to go along with a team-best three steals.
-Sloan Mann rounded out the double-figure scoring contingent with 13 thanks in part to a perfect 6-for-6 night at the charity stripe.
-For the contest, the Chargers shot 37.9 percent while holding UWA to a 35.7 percent shooting mark.
-The Tigers won the rebounding battle by a 42-37 margin.

Inside the Flow
-Bookended by triples from Pruitt and Harris, the Chargers scored the game's first 10 points, and the hosts led by as many as 13 in the opening quarter before carrying a 17-9 lead into the second.
-UAH then held West Alabama to only three field goals in the second quarter and outscored the guests 21-8 to go up 38-17 at the halftime break.
-After the Chargers went ahead by a 47-25 score just before the midway point of the third stanza, UWA went on a 9-0 run to cut the UAH cushion to 47-34 with one quarter left to play.
-The lead would grow back to as large as 14 in the fourth, and though the Tigers were able to narrow the gap to single-digits twice, it would not be enough as the UAH moved to 3-1 on the year at home.
