UAH Defeats Division I Foe Alabama A&M on Wednesday

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 win on Wednesday, defeating Division I member and crosstown foe Alabama A&M. The Chargers improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Bulldogs start at 0-1.
 
Turning Point
-The lone goal in the game came early as Melanie Brannon scored in the 10th minute, right after Hailey Hicks had made a save at the other end of the field.
-Hicks would make three more stops in the first half, but the Chargers would prevent the hosts from getting a shot on target in the second 45 minutes.
 
Inside the Box Score
-The Chargers registered 10 shots in the contest including eight that were on target, and Brynn Colvin accounted for half of the attempts with three of hers also going on frame.
-Carmen Endicott had a pair of shots that were both on goal.
-Hicks finished the game with the four saves.
-A&M also had 10 shots but just the four that were on target, and the Bulldogs earned six corners compared to two for UAH.
-There were just eight fouls in the game – four on each side – and there was one booking.
 
Noteworthy
-Brannon now has three goals on the season, which ties her for third in the GSC, and her seven total points on the season are tied for fourth in the conference.
-Brannon is second in the conference with her two game-winning scores.
-The start is the first for Hicks in her collegiate career as she helps UAH earn its second clean sheet of the season.
 
Next Time Out
-The Chargers step back into Spring Championship Series action on Saturday, welcoming Delta State to the Tennessee Valley. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
