ROME, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team finally returned to the pitch and did so in triumphant fashion, knocking off host Shorter 3-0 in a nonconference game on Saturday evening. The Chargers start the year at 1-0, while the Hawks begin at 0-1.
 
Turning Points
- Melanie Brannon opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, and she would pick up a second tally off a Gabby Westenberger ball in the 66th to make it 2-0.
-Icing the contest, the Chargers were awarded a PK in the 88th that Caroline Buchanan buried to create the 3-0 final.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Posting a clean sheet, Adriana Wright stopped four shots in goal for the guests.
-Brannon led UAH with three shots and all three were on goal.
-Both Buchanan and Laura Hasani fired off a pair of shots
-The Chargers outshot the hosts by a 10-5 margin including a 6-4 edge in shots that were on target, and indicative of UAH's dominance in the contest, the Blue and White earned eight corners compared to just two for Shorter.
-There were a total of just 11 fouls whistled in the game, and there were no bookings. 
 
Noteworthy
-This is Brannon's fourth multi-goal game, and she now has 16 goals for her career.
-The shutout for Wright is the second of her career.
-UAH is now 6-5-0 all-time against the Hawks and have won three straight in the series.
