UAH Tripped Up in Five-Set Loss at Home to Union

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team fell to visiting Union by a score of 3-2 (25-14, 25-22, 19-25, 23-25, 13-15) at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall on Tuesday night in Gulf South Conference action. UAH dips to 1-1 (1-1 GSC), while UU improves to 4-0 (2-0 GSC).
 
Turning Point
-After Union forced the fifth set with a 25-23 win in the fourth, the Bulldogs outscored the 6-2 in the initial eight volleys as the visitors would hang onto the lead for the 15-13 win in the set for the 3-2 match victory.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Abby Brooks generated a team-high 21 kills on a .265 hitting percentage to go along with 11 digs for a double-double.
-Brooks additionally tied with Molly Presnell for the team lead in service aces with two on the night.
-Kendall Scharbert rated second on the roster with 13 kills, followed by freshman Gracie McGee with 12 successful swats.
-Sabrina Duncan amassed a match-high 46 assists, as she also notched a double-double with 16 digs.
-Shayla Libby anchored the Chargers defense with 21 digs, followed by Presnell and Duncan with 16 scoops apiece.
 
Noteworthy
-Brooks' 21 kills are a career-high, and she now has double-doubles in back-to-back games to start 2021.
-Duncan has accrued 45 or more assists eight times in her career.
