UAH Splits Doubleheader Saturday at Mississippi College

CLINTON, Miss. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team wrapped up a three-game Gulf South Conference series at Mississippi College with a doubleheader split as the Chargers won game one 6-4 before the Choctaws took the night cap 11-2. UAH moves to 10-10 (9-9 GSC), while MC sits at 4-11 (1-9 GSC).

-UAH is back in action on Wednesday at Charger Park against Miles in a nonconference tilt.

Game-Changer
-After Mississippi College plated a pair in the eighth to tie it and eventually force extra innings, UAH scored twice to start off the 10th on an RBI double by Colin Brewer and a RBI single by Carson Villalta as the Chargers went on to win 6-4.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Brewer paced the Chargers offense in game one of the doubleheader on Saturday, going 3-for-5 with two runs and a team-high three RBI out of the cleanup spot. One of Brewer's three hits went for a double.
-Zach Duvall finished second on the roster with two hits, which included a solo home run in the top of the fourth.
-Tyler Self started on the mound for the Chargers on Saturday, turning in 6.0 innings with two runs allowed, seven strikeouts and zero walks. He received a no-decision.
-Parker Henson earned the win in relief to improve to 1-0 in 2021, after working 2.0 shutout innings with one strikeout.
-Garrett Bodine drew a team-high two walks while going 1-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base.
-John Trousdale tied for the team lead in runs scored with two in a 1-for-4 day at the plate with one walk.
 
Noteworthy
-This was Self's fourth outing of the season with 6.0 innings, zero walks and five or more strikeouts. He currently boasts a team-high 36 strikeouts compared to just three walks.
-Brewer has six RBI through two games in the series at MC, as he now has four games with three or more RBI.

Game-Changer
-Mississippi College put together a pair of four-run innings early into game two on Saturday in the first and third innings, which guided the Choctaws to the 11-2 win in the series finale.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Parker Warren started on the mound for the Chargers, and he tossed 0.2 innings with four runs allowed. He took the loss to drop to 0-1 this season.
-The Chargers had eight hits as a team in game two of the doubleheader, led by Will Acuff who went 2-for-3.
-Duvall went 1-for-4 with one RBI.
-Trousdale notched the lone extra-base hit by the Chargers which was a double in a 1-for-4 day at the plate with one run scored.
-Bodine drew the only walk by the Chargers while going 1-for-3 out of the lead-off spot.
-Jake Christa, Heath Senn and Austin East each pitched at least 1.0 scoreless inning.
 
Noteworthy
-Bodine has drawn at least one walk in four straight games, as he owns a team-high 17 free passes in 2021.
