HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team advanced to the semifinals in the Gulf South Conference Spring Championship Series with a 3-1 win (25-15, 25-15, 20-25, 25-14) over West Georgia on Saturday afternoon at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. UAH improves to 4-1, while UWG dips to 4-5.
 
Turning Point
-After West Georgia forced a fourth set with a 25-20 win in the third, the two teams were tied midway through the fourth at 9-9 until UAH erupted for five unanswered points to guide the squad to the victory-clinching 25-14 win in the fourth frame.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Abby Brooks had an outstanding performance on both sides of the ball, as she led the squad with 18 digs and rated second on the team with 10 kills for a double-double.
-Kendall Scharbert put up a team-high 11 kills while tying for the roster lead in blocks with four total on the day.
-Both Molly Presnell and Paris Morris had nine kills to rank tied for third on UAH, with Morris notching a team-best .389 hitting percentage amongst Chargers with 10 or more attacks.
-Sabrina Duncan generated a double-double with a team-high 38 assists to go along with 11 digs.
-Kennedy Sellers ranked second on the defense with 17 digs while adding four kills in five total attacks.
-Shayla Libby rated third on the squad with 15 digs, as she also accumulated a team-high three service aces.
-UAH hit .192 as a team for the match, while limiting UWG to a .072 team hitting percentage. The Chargers highest hitting percentage of the match came in the second set with a .357 swing rate.
 
Noteworthy
-Brooks double-double was her third of the season as her 18 digs tie her career-best which has been set three times.
-Morris' nine kills are a season-high for the freshman.
