UAH Comes From Behind in Five-Set Win to Open Spring Campaign at MC

CLINTON, Miss. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team opened up the 2021 spring schedule with a 3-2 win (25-23, 16-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-8) on Saturday afternoon at Mississippi College in a Gulf South Conference matchup. UAH improves to 1-0 (1-0 GSC), while MC dips to 3-1 (1-1 GSC).
 
Turning Point
-After UAH forced a fifth set with a 25-21 win in the fourth, the Chargers opened up the final frame with three straight points and the squad would not relinquish the lead on the way to taking the fifth 15-8 for the 3-2 victory.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Abby Brooks posted a team-best 18 kills on a .310 hitting percentage, as she also notched a double-double with 10 digs in the win.
-Molly Presnell joined Brooks in double figures in both kills and digs with 12 successful swats and 10 scoops, while accumulating a .303 hitting percentage on the day.
-Shayla Libby recorded a team-high 21 digs to go along with 10 assists for a double-double.
-Sabrina Duncan also had a double-double in the contest with 30 assists and 11 digs.
-Gracie McGee had a team-best .533 hitting percentage as she rated third on the squad with nine kills.
-Paris Morris posted a roster-high five total blocks, which included three solo blocks.
-UAH limited Mississippi College to hitting percentages of .160 or lower in two out of the five sets on Saturday.
 
Noteworthy
-Libby's double-double was the first of her career.
-Brooks' 18 kills match a career-high for the senior and are the most in a GSC contest in her career.
-UAH last played in a five-set match on Nov. 9, 2019, which was a 3-2 win over Christian Brothers.
