UAH Starts Week's Slate with 17-1 Victory at Miles

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team opened up the week's slate with a 17-1 rout of Miles on Tuesday afternoon at Rickwood Field. UAH improves to 8-9, while MC dips to 3-5.
 
Game-Changer
-The Chargers offense rallied for four runs or more in three different innings – including an eight-run outburst in the eighth – as the squad powered its way to the 17-1 win over the Golden Bears.
 
Inside the Box Score
-UAH was led on offense by Carson Villalta who went 4-for-5 with a team-high four runs scored and three RBI. Villalta notched one double and one homer – a two-run shot in the eighth – amongst his four hits.
-Dorien Jenkins tied with Villalta for the team lead in hits with four on the day as well, while also chipping in three runs, one RBI, one walk and one stolen base. One of Jenkins' base hits went for a triple.
-Jeff Hunter went 3-for-4 on the day with two runs scored and tied with Villalta with three RBI to lead the roster. Hunter had one triple and one double in his three hits.
-Tyler Bell also had a multi-hit performance going 2-for-4 with two runs, one RBI and one walk.
-The Chargers utilized nine pitchers during the nonconference tilt, as Tyler Self, Caleb Brewer, Ian McCoy, Justin Perreault, Kody Keiser, Will Griffith, Jake Christa and Austin East each tossed one scoreless inning apiece.
-Keiser was credited with the win to improve his season record to 1-1.
 
Noteworthy
-Villalta's home run was the first of his career, as he set career-bests for hits (4), runs (4) and RBI (3) in a game.
-Villalta moves up to first on the roster with a .400 batting average (14-for-35) this season.
-UAH has score 10 or more runs six times in 2021.

-UAH continues its road swing at Mississippi College this Friday and Saturday.
