Phillips Break Records as Chargers Throttle Shorter

ROME, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team picked up its first-ever Peach Belt Conference win on Saturday, blowing past host Shorter by an 18-6 score. The Chargers improve to 3-6 (1-2 PBC) with the victory, while the Hawks fall to 2-7 (0-3 PBC). 
 
Game Changer
-Brody Phillips established single-game program records in both assists with seven and points with 11 on Saturday as he also scored four times in the UAH victory.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Also having a big day offensively was Luke LeVette who scored six times and added an assist for seven points, while Preston Deno scored three times and assisted on four other Charger goals to also total seven points.
-Jake LeVette had a goal and two assists for three points, while Emory Weaver added a pair of goals.
-Both Kyle Light and Josh Campbell had a goal for the Chargers, while Jax Looby and James Cox both had an assist.
-Zak Welsh stopped 12 shots in picking up the victory for the Chargers in the cage.
-Silas Herman had a team-high 10 ground balls, while Campbelled created a team-best two turnovers. 
-In total the Chargers outshot the Hawks by a 55-25 margin.
-UAH picked up 44 ground balls in the game compared to just 24 for Shorter.
-The Chargers were 24-for-26 in clears, while the hosts went 21-for-29.
 
Inside the Flow
-After the Hawks scored the first goal of the game, the Chargers would score 10 straight and 11 of the last 13 of the first two quarters to take a wide 11-3 lead into the halftime break.
-UAH then outscored Shorter 4-2 in the third to lead by 10 at 15-5 going into the fourth in which the Chargers scored three of the four goals in the period to create the 18-6 final.
 
Noteworthy
-The 11 points from Phillips surpasses the previous program-high of eight which was set by LeVette on four different occasions, and the seven assists for Phillips top the prior best of five from LeVette back on Feb. 18, 2017, against Lincoln Memorial.
-Phillips now has 15 goals and 15 assists for a team-best 30 points on the year.
-LeVette has a team-best 21 goals.
 
Next Time Out
-The Chargers continue PBC play next weekend when the team welcomes Lander to Charger Park on Saturday. That game is slated for a 12 p.m. start.
