OXFORD, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball staved off elimination in the 2021 Gulf South Conference Baseball Championships on Monday evening at Choccolocco Park with a come-from-behind 6-5 victory in the semifinals against Delta State. UAH improves to 22-17, while DSU slips to 26-16.

UAH advances to take on Delta State in an elimination semifinal matchup on Tuesday at 11 a.m., and the winner of that contest will move onto a best-of-three series at West Florida on May 18-20 to decide the 2021 GSC Championship.

The Statesmen pulled back ahead with a single run in the fifth to make it 3-2, and DSU would push its lead to 4-2 with a solo home run by Donovan Shows in the seventh.

Bodine's second solo home run of the day in the bottom half of the seventh slimmed the DSU advantage to 4-3, but the Statesmen regained the two-run lead with a solo homer in the eighth by Blayke Dendy.

The Chargers cut the deficit to one run with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth by Colin Brewer, before scoring two times in the bottom of the ninth on RBI singles by both John Trousdale and Tyler McCown for the 6-5 victory.
