7/12/2021 10:48:00 AM

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse head coach Gail Wallach has announced her resignation from the University to lead the program at Anderson.

"We are appreciative of Coach Wallach and all she has done for the UAH women's lacrosse program and UAH athletics overall, and we wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors," Director of Athletics Dr. Cade Smith said.

Wallach has been the head coach of the UAH women's lacrosse program since its inception prior to the inaugural season in 2016, as she's accumulated a career record of 74-22 to go along with two Gulf South Conference Championships in her time in Huntsville.

Over six seasons, Wallach has coached one Alabama Sports Writers Association Small College Athlete of the Year, one GSC Top Ten Award winner, three GSC Players of the Year and 22 All-GSC performers. Additionally, she helped the Chargers lead the nation in team scoring three times in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

UAH achieved its second straight GSC Championship in the 2021 season with a 17-6 win over Young Harris in Huntsville on April 25, which gave the squad a 12-3 overall record that included a 3-1 mark in league games. Wallach boasted five All-GSC honorees on the roster, including Cara Brown, Hailey Gallant, Katie Gerber, Karissa Glover, and Darby Smith.

Prior to coming to UAH, Wallach served as head coach at Emmanuel College, after previously being the head women's basketball coach at Rutgers University-Camden, Drew University and Washington College.

A national search for the next head coach of the UAH women's lacrosse program will begin in the near future.
