HUNTSVILLE | The Gulf South Conference announced its 2021 GSC Women's Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll on Friday morning, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was voted third.

Reigning GSC Champion Lee came out atop the poll with 143 points and 11 first-place nods, followed by Mississippi College in second with 133 points, UAH in third with 119 points and Montevallo in fourth with 113 points.

The top eight of the balloting was rounded out by Union in fifth, Valdosta State in sixth, West Florida in seventh and Christian Brothers in eighth.

The Chargers are coming off a fourth-place finish at the 2020 GSC Championships, where
Kaylee Stewart and
Taylor Engram both garnered All-GSC honors. A total of eight runners from last season return for 2021.

UAH starts off 2021 campaign next Saturday in Memphis, Tennessee, with the Memphis Twilight hosted by Christian Brothers.
