The contest against the Bulldogs marks the first fall contest for the Chargers since Nov. 8, 2019, as the COVID-19 pandemic forced the Gulf South Conference to hold only a limited schedule which was played this past spring.
In that abbreviated season, UAH posted a 4-4-1 mark, and the team was led offensively by both Melanie Brannon and Caroline Buchanan who scored three times while also adding an assist, and Brannon paced the Chargers with a pair of game-winning tallies. In goal, Adriana Wright started eight of the nine games, making 42 saves which gives the 129 stops in her two seasons in the Blue and White.
Alabama A&M went 4-4 in its own COVID-19-shortened season, including a 1-0 setback against the Chargers, and with Division I's season already underway, the Bulldogs will mark the short trek across town with an 0-3 record on the year.Â
Thursday's match will represent the 11th all-time meeting between the two programs, and UAH is 6-3-1 in the previous 10. In last year's victory, the Chargers made Brannon's 10th-minute goal stand as the difference maker while Hailey Hicks made four saves in earning the clean sheet in goal.
