EVANSVILLE, Ind. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team competed in a pair of matches on day two of the Southern Indiana Invitational on Friday, as the Chargers took the first match of the day 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-18) over Davis & Elkins before falling to Wayne State 3-1 (28-26, 21-25, 16-25, 24-26). UAH now has a record of 3-3 this season.

UAH wraps up play at the USI Invitational on Saturday at 10 a.m. against Missouri-St. Louis, which will be the ninth meeting all-time between the two programs.

UAH 3, DEC 0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-18)
UAH started off Friday's slate with a three-set win over Davis & Elkins, as the Chargers withstood two late pushes by the Senators in the first and second before winning 25-21 in both frames. The Blue & White sealed the victory in the third, leading by as much as 11 in the set on the way to the 25-18 win.

Senior
Kendall Scharbert guided the Chargers attack in the first match of the day with a team-high 11 kills and .500 hitting percentage while also tying for the team lead on defense with two total blocks.

Shayla Libby recorded a roster-leading 12 digs in the three-set victory, followed by both
Gracie McGee and
Molly Presnell with eight scoops apiece. McGee additionally had five kills, with Presnell recording six successful swats.

Sabrina Duncan posted a team-high 26 assists and tied for the team lead in service aces with Presnell with three in the win.

This was UAH's first-ever matchup against Davis & Elkins.

WSU 3, UAH 1 (28-26, 21-25, 16-25, 24-26)
The Chargers came from behind late in the opening set against Wayne State, trailing by 24-22 before closing out the frame on a 6-2 run for the 28-26 win. UAH battled back from an eight-point deficit in the second to make a late push, before the Warriors took the set 25-21 and the ensuing frame 25-16.

Wayne State sealed the win over UAH late in the fourth set, overcoming a 23-18 lead by the Chargers in the match-sealing 26-24 win in the stanza by the Warriors.

Presnell had a stellar all-around performance in the four-set match in game two on Friday, as she posted a double-double with a team-high 14 kills to go along with 15 digs. She additionally had a roster-leading .294 hitting percentage.

Libby paced the Chargers defense with 16 digs, followed by Presnell with 15 and
Gracie McGee and
Sabrina Duncan with nine apiece.

Duncan nearly notched a double-double in the contest, accruing a team-high 31 assists in addition to her nine digs on Friday evening.

The Chargers offense also featured three players with seven kills in the match, including
Zharia Hubbard,
Emma Jarrett and McGee.
