CLEVELAND, Tenn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team started off play at the Lee Invitational with a 3-0 victory (25-22, 25-21, 25-11) over King on Thursday evening in nonconference action. UAH improves to 5-4, while KU dips to 2-4.

Senior
Sabrina Duncan guided the Chargers offense with a match-high 33 assists to go along with 12 digs for the squad's lone double-double in the victory. Duncan's double-double was her fourth in the 2021 campaign.

Emma Jarrett led the UAH attack overall with 10 kills on a .304 hitting percentage, followed by
Gracie McGee with seven and
Zharia Hubbard and
Molly Presnell with six each. Hubbard boasted a team-leading .545 hitting percentage in the match.

Defensively, four Chargers reached double-digit digs with
Shayla Libby leading the way with a team-high 13 scoops. Duncan's 12 digs rated second on the night, followed by McGee with 11 and
Katie Sharp with 10.

The Chargers edged out the Tornado in the first set 25-22 by taking the final two points of the frame after King cut the UAH lead to 23-22. Another close victory by the Chargers followed in the second by a score of 25-21, before the UAH offense erupted for a .364 hitting percentage in the third on the way to the 25-11 match-sealing win.

This was the first matchup between UAH and King since Sept. 5, 1997, as the Chargers now hold a 6-3 all-time record against the Tornado.

UAH wraps up its action on the Lee campus on Friday with a 1:30 p.m. CT matchup with Young Harris, which will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
