TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | In one of the most highly touted races in the nation this weekend, The No. 11 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's cross country team finished eighth overall and first amongst NCAA Division II team at the Florida State Open on Friday morning at the Apalachee Regional Park.

The 26-team field in the eight-kilometer race featured several Division I squads and South Region foes, as Stanford won the team competition overall, followed by Furman in second and host Florida State in third.

Senior
Jay Day paced a total of nine Chargers that finished in the top 100 of the field on Friday with a 38th-place time of 24:59.1, and he was joined in the top 50 by sophomore
Allan Anderson in 48th at 25:12.8.

Two UAH runners finished in quick succession after Day and Anderson, as
Jacob Bishop clocked in at 25:25.7 for 58th and
Caleb Boys completed the race in 25:27.1 for 59th overall.

The Chargers also featured
Jack Elliott (77th, 25:48.8),
Harold Lacroix (87th, 25:57.3),
Samuel Wilhelm (94th, 26:08.8),
Alex Herbst (96th, 26:13.3) and
Will Thompson (98th, 26:15.3) in the top 100 on Friday.
