UAH Starts GSC Play with Four-Set Win at UWA

LIVINGSTON, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team started off Gulf South Conference play in the 2021 season with a 3-1 win (15-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-18) at West Alabama on Friday night. UAH improves to 7-4 (1-0 GSC), while UWA dips to 0-8 (0-2 GSC).

 
The Chargers offense was led by Gracie McGee with a team-high 12 kills, followed by Molly Presnell and Zharia Hubbard with 11 apiece. 
 
Both McGee and Presnell also notched a double-double with 15 digs and 17 digs, respectively. 
 
Paris Morris registered a team-high .333 hitting percentage on her seven kills on the night.
 
On the defensive end, Shayla Libby and Presnell tied for the team lead with 17 digs each, followed by McGee's 15. 
 
West Alabama controlled the pace in the first set to take the early lead on a 25-15 win in the frame, but the Chargers rebounded to edge the Tigers in the second 25-22 to even the match.
 
UAH turned in back-to-back 25-18 wins in the third and fourth to seal the four-set win on Friday.
 
UAH looks ahead to a Saturday matchup at Mississippi College at 1 p.m. The Chargers are 16-5 all-time against the Choctaws, having won each of the past four matchups.
