BIRMINGHAM – UAH sophomore Cooper Garrett has been named the Gulf South Conference Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday after helping the Chargers go 3-0 during the UAH Invitational.
The setter led UAH in total kills with 35, averaging 3.18 per set, through the three wins against Harding, Spring Hill and Mars Hill. In each of the wins, Garrett led the team with 11 kills in a 3-0 win against Harding, 13 in a 3-1 win against Spring Hill, and tied for a team-high 11 in another 3-1 win against Mars Hill.
Additionally, the sophomore led UAH in total assists with 70, 6.36 per set. She set a season-high in assists with 29, 7.25 per set, in the four-set win against Mars Hill.
Garrett also added a pair of service aces, both against Mars Hill, while totaling 42.5 points through the weekend.
Through a 6-0 start to the season, Garrett has totaled 61 kills, 141 assists and 13 total blocks while recording 73.5 points.
The Chargers continue their season on Friday, September 11, in Clinton, Mississippi, at the GSC-PBC Crossover tournament when UAH will face Augusta at 2 p.m. and USC Aiken at 6 p.m. before closing out the weekend against Flagler on Saturday at noon.
