MEMPHIS, Tenn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's and women's cross country teams started off the 2021 campaign at the Memphis Twilight on Saturday night with the Chargers men's squad garnering second and the women's team earning 11th overall.

Allan Anderson led the way for the UAH men's squad in seventh place in the four-mile run with a time of 19:46.15, followed by
Jay Day in 12th at 20:02.46 and
Jacob Bishop in 13th at 20:06.30.

The Chargers additionally had four more runners in the top 30 of the race standings, including
Caleb Boys in 15th at 20:08.20,
Harold Lacroix in 21st at 20:15.61,
Alex Herbst in 22nd at 20:16.72 and
Jack Elliott in 27th at 20:24.63.

In the women's 5k,
Kaylee Stewart paced all Chargers in 28th overall with a time of 18:51.10, as UAH generated five runners in the top 75. Stewart was joined in the top 75 by
Abby Weist (58th, 19:38.11),
Taylor Engram (65th, 19:45.75),
Caroline Ursprung (67th, 19:46.36), and
Amelia Brady (74th, 19:58.92).
