HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team saw visiting Montevallo slip by them on Wednesday evening, dropping a 67-55 decision at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers drop to 3-12 (2-8 Gulf South Conference), while the Falcons improve to 9-11 (4-6 GSC).

Selena Pruitt was level with her in scoring with 11 points of her own on the night.
Montevallo jumped out to an early lead, going up 7-3 and eventually leading by as many as 8 at 14-6 just over five minutes into the game, but the hosts would put together a couple of field goals to cut the lead to 19-15 heading into the second quarter.Â

The Falcons would surge in front by as many as 12 in the stanza before claiming a 34-27 lead at the half.

In the third, Montevallo scored the first bucket to start the quarter with a 6-0 run, but five straight from the Chargers would allow the hosts to start to narrow the gap before the game went into the final period with UM up by 14 at 53-39.

The Falcons would not lead by less than 11 in the final frame A bucket from Woods with 5:38 left would pull the Chargers to within four, but the team would not be able to tighten the game further as the visitors secured the 67-55 victory.

UAH shot 36.2 percent for the contest, while the guests connected on 38.9 percent of their tries including going 40.7 percent from beyond the arc. The rebounding battle was even at 37-37 however, the Falcons would go 14-for-16 from the free-throw line to help them pull away in the game.

The Chargers will now look to bounce back on Saturday when the team hosts Shorter. Tip-off in Huntsville is set for 2 p.m.
