The hosts held a 9-2 advantage after the game's opening five minutes and would use a 53.8 percent shooting performance throughout the first quarter to hold a 20-6 advantage over the visitors at the first intermission. Despite outscoring the Lady Blazers in the second frame and holding them to a 15.8 percent rate from the field, the Chargers would see themselves trailing going into the halftime break at 31-19

The visitors would shoot at a 72.7 percent clip in the third stanza and put up 19 points, but VSU would answer with 18 points of their own to hold the advantage at 49-38 with one quarter left to play. Keeping the late pressure going, the Chargers would score 21 points in the last quarter and a three-pointer from Harris with five seconds left on the clock would cut the deficit to three and give UAH a chance at one last scoring play coming out of a timeout. However, Valdosta State would eventually hold on for the 62-59 final.
