UAH Tripped Up On the Road in Pensacola

PENSACOLA, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team dropped a Saturday afternoon road game at West Florida, falling to the Argonauts 74-60. The Chargers drop to 3-14 (2-10 Gulf South Conference) while UWF improves to 15-6 (9-5 GSC).

Miajah Bullock put up a team-high 15 points going 5-for-9 from the field on the afternoon. Alaina Taylor was also in double figures for the Blue & White with 13 points while eleven different Chargers recorded points in the contest.

Alexis Woods led UAH in the rebounding category recording 11 boards throughout the contest.

The game would be a tight affair in the early goings and only two points would separate the sides at the first intermission with West Florida holding a 19-17 advantage. The Argos would then go on a 17-0 run over the opening 4:30 of the second quarter to pull away and see themselves holding a 43-28 lead at the halftime break.

West Florida would grab their largest lead of the night late into the third quarter after a Gabby Brown layup in the paint would put them up by 26. Despite the Chargers outscoring the Argos 21-11 while holding UWF to a 10.0 percent shooting performance in the last stanza, the hosts would claim the 74-60 final.

For the contest, UAH hit 35.5 percent of its attempts from the floor while West Florida turned in a 44.6 percent shooting performance. Each team turned the ball over 19 times throughout the game, but the Argonauts were able to build up a 20-8 difference in points off these miscues which proved to be a key difference.

Jaclyn Jarnot led the way for UWF with 28 points to go along with 14 rebounds while Charlotte Ellmore and Zoe Piller each had 12 of their own on the evening to round out the double-figures scorers for the Argos.

UAH will now turn its attention to Union as the Bulldogs will make a trip to the Rocket City to take on the Chargers on Monday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. Union is ranked No. 11 in this week's WBCA Coaches' Poll and No. 7 in the D2SIDA Media Poll.

Tip-off in Huntsville is set for 5:30 p.m.
