UAH Men's and Women's Cross Country Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Distinction

NEW ORLEANS | The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced its 2021 USTFCCCA Cross Country Academic Awards, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's and women's cross country squads were both named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams with a combined 13 runners named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes.
 
The Chargers women's team boasted seven individual honorees, including Amelia Brady, Claudia Dassow, Taylor Engram, Emily McMurry, Tatiana Padgett, Kaylee Stewart, and Abby Weist.
 
On the men's side, Allan Anderson, Caleb Boys, Jay Day, Alex Herbst, Harold Lacroix, and Sam Wilhelm represented UAH as USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes.
 
The Chargers men's squad earned its third-straight Gulf South Conference Championship this past fall while also earning a team berth to Nationals. UAH's women's team garnered third at the 2021 GSC Championships and fifth at the South Regional.
 
Overall, there were 357 women from 104 different institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes for their efforts during the 2021 season.
 
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
