HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team easily dispatched of visiting West Florida on Tuesday afternoon, winning 95-74 at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers improve to 9-5 (2-3 Gulf South Conference), while the Argos slip to 11-3 (5-2 GSC).

Aiding the Chargers in leading more than 38 minutes of the contest, Luke Burnett led the way with another strong day from downtown as he connected eight 3-pointers en route to scoring a team-high 26 points.

CJ Williamson was also terrific for the home team, going 8-for-13 from the floor on his way to scoring 17 while also grabbing six rebounds and handing out eight assists, and Dalton Dodd rounded out UAH's double-figure scoring contingent with 12 points.

UAH's top rebounder was Max Shulman who collected seven boards.

All 10 Chargers that dressed for the contest logged points.

The hosts took the game's first lead, and though a 3-pointer for UWF would give the Argonauts a brief advantage, the Chargers would rip off a 21-4 run to go in front 23-7 after an impressive dunk from Auston Leslie at the 11:49 mark of the opening half. The lead would then expand all the way to 25 before UAH took a 60-36 advantage into the locker room at the break.

The Blue and White would eventually lead by as many as 34 in the second half before a late push from West Florida narrowed the gap somewhat to the 95-74 final.

After shooting 63.2 percent overall and 60.0 percent from 3-point land in the first half, the Chargers finished the game shooting 56.5 percent, while UWF shot 45.9 percent.

The rebounding battle was tilted towards UAH by a 34-32 margin.

UAH took advantage of 15 turnovers while only giving it away eight times itself to build up a 21-9 edge in points off turnovers, and the Chargers also dominated inside outscoring UWF by a 54-28 margin in the paint.

The Chargers will return to action on Thursday when the squad visits rival Montevallo. Tip-off at Trustmark Arena is slated for 7:30 p.m.
