HOOVER, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team started off play at the 2022 South Region Crossover with a 3-1 win over Florida Southern and a 3-0 win against Palm Beach Atlantic at the Finley Center on Friday. UAH's overall record now stands at 10-12 in the 2022 season.

UAH wraps up action at the 2022 South Region Crossover on Saturday with a 1:30 p.m. matchup against Lynn. The Chargers have won four consecutive contests against the Fighting Knights dating back to the 2017 season.

UAH 3, FSC 1 (25-18, 10-25, 25-16, 25-18)
The Chargers opened up the South Region Crossover with a dominant attacking performance in the first set with a .405 hitting percentage on the way to the 25-18 win in the frame.

Florida Southern rebounded to take the second 25-10, but UAH would win back-to-back sets by seven points or more including a 25-16 margin in the third and 25-18 in the fourth to seal the victory.

Ally Kennis led the Chargers offense with a team-high 12 kills and a .429 hitting percentage, while also adding four digs defensively.

Zoe Smith additionally guided the UAH attack with 11 kills on a .357 swing rate. A total of seven Chargers had at least five kills in the match.

Four UAH players notched double-digit digs against the Moccasins, led by
Gracie McGee with 13 scoops.
Tatiana Bonilla rated second on the team with 11 digs,followed by
Laekyn Bennett and
Hailey Holshouser with 10 digs apiece.

Savannah Rutledge generated a team-high 22 assists in addition to notching seven digs on the defense end.

UAH 3, PBA 0 (25-17, 32-30, 25-22)
UAH took the first lead in the second match on Friday against Palm Beach Atlantic with a 25-17 win in the opening set after scoring six of the final nine points of the frame.

The Chargers were resilient in the second set to outlast the Sailfish by a score of 32-30, before sealing the three-set win with a 25-22 edging in the third stanza.

Smith had another strong offensive performance in the second match of the day, as she generated a team-high 10 kills on a .250 hitting percentage.

McGee rated second on the team with nine kills, as the junior added three assists, two toal blocks and six digs in an all-around performance.

Bonilla anchored the Chargers defense in the three-set win with a roster-leading 15 digs, followed by Holshouser with 11 scoops against the Sailfish.

Savannah Rutledge and
Laekyn Bennett helped guide the UAH offense with 16 assists and 14 assists, respectively. Rutledge additionally notched a team-best six service aces.
