UAH Cruises Past Shorter 5-0 on Friday

ROME, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team cruised to a 5-0 drubbing of Shorter on the road on Friday night in Gulf South Conference action. UAH improves to 5-6-5 (4-4-4 GSC), while SU slides to 0-16-1 (0-12-0 GSC).

Three of the Chargers five goals on the night came in the opening nine minutes of action, as Carmen Endicott started the scoring with a tally in the fourth minute.

UAH added to its lead in the eighth minute as Laura Hasani scored off an assist by Helena Gonzalez, and the Chargers went on to take a 3-0 advantage into the half on Endicott's second goal of the game in the ninth minute.

This was Endicott's second two-goal performance of the season, as she now leads the roster with six goals in 2022.

UAH continued to push the pace in the second half with two more unanswered goals in the 51st minute by Maialen Mera Torres and in the 70th minute by Jayla Gillespie.

Mera Torres keeps pace with Endicott atop the Chargers offense with 12 points apiece, as Mera Torres now has two assists to go along with five goals this campaign.

Hailey Hicks and Karli Newton each played one half in goal for the Chargers, with Hicks posting two saves and Newton notching four stops in the shutout. This was UAH's fifth shutout of the season.

UAH's five-goal performance is the largest scoring output by the team this season, and the most by the team since a matchup 5-3 win over West Georgia in the 2021 spring season.

The Chargers are back in action at noon CT on Sunday at Lee for the regular season finale.
