HUNTSVILLE | The No. 15 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team defeated Toccoa Falls by a final score of 106-85 for its fifth consecutive victory on Tuesday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall in nonconference action. UAH improves to 5-1, while TFC slides to 2-4.

This the first time this season UAH has posted 100 or more points in a game, and the first time since the team's 106-99 win over Barry on March 12 in the NCAA South Regional.

The Chargers offense featured five players with 10 points or more in the win over the Screaming Eagles, led by reigning GSC Player of the Week Chaney Johnson who generated his first double-double of the 2022-23 campaign with 14 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Johnson went 7-for-11 from the field over 17 minutes on the floor.

Luke Burnett rated second on the team with 16 points on 6-of-14 shooting that included a 4-for-10 mark on three-pointers. Max Shulman (13 points), Dalton Dodd (13 points) and Tanner Shulman (11 points) rounded out the Chargers in double-digit scoring.

Max Shulman also had a strong all-around performance with seven rebounds, five assists and two steals also to his name in a team-high 21 minutes.

UAH shot 44.0 percent (37-84) as a team overall and 37.8 percent (17-45) on three-pointers. Overall, all 13 of the Chargers players that entered the game on Tuesday scored at least two points.

The Blue & White opened up the first 4:19 of the contest on a 16-0 run until the Screaming Eagles ended the shutout bid by UAH with a two-point basket with 15:41 remaining.

UAH went on to outscore Toccoa Falls for the remainder of the half 50-33 to lead 66-35 after 20 minutes of action. Burnett guided the Chargers scoring in the opening frame with 13 points, thanks to a 3-for-5 mark from beyond the arc.

The Screaming Eagles finished the contest outscoring UAH 50-40 in the second half, but the Chargers held on for the 106-85 victory.

This was the first-ever matchup between UAH and Toccoa Falls.

UAH returns to Gulf South Conference play on Saturday at 4 p.m. with a trip down I-65 to take on Montevallo.
