MONTEVALLO, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's and women's cross country teams both finished third overall in the team standings at the 2022 Gulf South Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning on the campus of Montevallo with a combined total of nine All-GSC performers.

In the men's 8K race, sophomore
Sam Wilhelm led the way for the Chargers with a second-place time of 23:53.2 to earn First Team All-GSC.
Â
Wilhelm was joined as a First Team All-GSC honoree by
Allan Anderson who completed the course with a time of 24:10.3.
Â
UAH notched two more All-GSC performers as Second Team members, as
Gabe Henneberger clocked in at 24:27.4 for 11th place and
Nathan Knox finishing in 24:59.1 for 20th overall.

Also competing for the UAH men on Saturday included
Jack Elliott (21st, 24:59.6),
Caleb Boys (23rd, 25:04.1),
Will Thompson (25th, 25:12.6),
Jackson Danner (30th, 25:30.3),
Nate Pohlsander (32nd, 25:36.4),
Will Anglea (43rd, 26:14.5).

On the women's side,
Emily McMurry guided the Chargers in the 5K race with a fifth-place clocking of 18:18.8. She was joined in the top 10 of the field by
Abby Weist who place ninth at a time of 18:39.2, as both runners earned First Team All-GSC honors.

The Chargers notched three additional All-GSC performers with Second Team distinctions with
Tatiana Padgett finishing 11th at 18:45.9,
Claudia Dassow placing 18th at 19:13.0 and
Taylor Engram garnering 19th at 19:13.4.

Additionally competing for UAH on Saturday morning included
Amelia Brady (24th, 19:23.1),
Caroline Ursprung (33rd, 19:48.2),
Grace Hampel (46th, 20:28.5),
Mary Frances Mattingly (57th, 20:50.5), and
Kaylee Stewart (59th, 20:54.1).

The Lee Flames finished first overall in both the men's and women's GSC Championships on Saturday.
