MEMPHIS, Tennessee – The UAH men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2026 season at the City Auto Memphis Twilight XC Classic Saturday night.

The women's team finished sixth among the 18 teams competing. Likewise, the men's team also finished sixth in a field of 20 teams. Both the women's and men's teams also finished second amongst Division II programs, behind only Harding in both categories. 

Four of the scoring members of the women's group finished in the top 50. Freshman Rose Betts led the Chargers and finished 33rd overall (18:55.69) while junior Lexi Hinote was less than a second behind and finished 35th (18:56.30). Sophomore Lindsey Barnes finished 44th (19:12.45), sophomore Sarah Hertz finished 49th (19:16.31) and junior Lucy Horne rounded out the top five at 60th overall (19:30.59).

The Chargers' top seven runners finished in the top 44 while junior Dakota Frank finished 19th (20:08.90) to lead UAH. Junior Cole Robinson grabbed 28th (20:25.60) for UAH. Senior Tripp Miller, freshman Aaron Ashley and senior Conner Patterson round out the top 50 in consecutive spots at 37th (20:38.79), 38th (20:39.84) and 39th (20:41.38, respectively.

The Chargers will be back in action in Tallahassee, Florida, with both the men's and women's programs competing at the Florida State-Regional on Friday, September 18.
