CARROLLTON, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team hung on to win 58-57 at West Georgia on Thursday night in Gulf South Conference action. UAH improves to 10-3 (6-2 GSC), while UWG slides to 6-2 (6-1 GSC).

Max Shulman had a strong all-around performance for the Chargers, posting a team-high eight rebounds, three assists and four steals while rating second on the team with 11 points. Shulman additionally led the squad with 37 minutes on the floor.

Chaney Johnson led the offense overall with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor to go along with five rebounds and one block on Thursday.

Luke Burnett rounded out the Chargers in double-figure scoring at the Wolves with 10 points in addition to tying Johnson with five rebounds.

Daniel Saylor generated a successful performance down low for the Blue & White, as he tied Shulman with eight rebounds while adding two stelas and one block over 15 minutes.

Overall on Thursday, UAH held the edge over West Georgia in field goal percentage (39.6%-36.4%), rebounds (39-34), and second chance points (11-6).

UAH trailed 24-17 just past the midway point of the opening half, but the Chargers closed out the final eight minutes of the frame on a 12-3 run to take a 29-27 lead.

The Chargers pushed their advantage to as much as 10 in the second half at a 56-46 lead with 4:49 left, and the Blue & White would withstand a late push by the Wolves to win 58-57 on Thursday.
