UAH Makes Home Return with Victory over Lee

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team topped Lee by a score of 74-62 on Friday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall in Gulf South Conference action. UAH improves to 7-2 (3-1 GSC), while LU slides to 2-2 (2-2 GSC).
 
UAH was guided by CJ Williamson's 20 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the floor to go along with three rebounds and a team-best three assists. Williamson's 20 points are a season-high for him.
 
Max Shulman registered 18 points in the win over Lee, as he went 7-for-8 from the floor and 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. Shulman's 18 points are the most by the senior in GSC play this season.
 
Luke Burnett gave the Chargers three players in double-digit scoring with 16 points on the night, highlighted by his 7-for-7 performance from the charity stripe.
 
Chaney Johnson grabbed a roster-best 12 rebounds while adding two assists and the squad's lone block. Johnson's 12 rebounds are a season-best for the sophomore.
 
UAH shot 48.3 percent (28-58) from the field overall on Monday to go along with 38.1 percent (8-21) on three-pointers. The Chargers defense limited Lee to 40.0 percent (22-55) on field goals.
 
The Chargers benefitted from an 11-2 run midway through the first half that had UAH ahead 26-23, but the Flames would bounce back to lead the Chargers 42-37 at the halftime break.
 
Burnett posted a team-high 13 points in the opening stanza as he went 2-for-2 on three-pointers and 7-for-7 on free throws.
 
UAH went on a 15-4 run over the first 7:52 of the second half to turn the tables and lead Lee 52-46. The Chargers would hold onto the lead for the remainder of the contest, outscoring the Flames 22-16 to close out the game for the 74-62 victory on Monday.
 
The Chargers are back in action on Sunday with a 4 p.m. matchup against visiting Shorter at Spragins Hall.
