PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team continued its nonconference slate with a 13-7 loss to Fairmont State on Friday afternoon at Home Plate Baseball Field. UAH dips to 0-4, while FSU starts out 1-0.

UAH is back in action with a pair of games tomorrow in Peachtree City, Georgia, against Cedarville at 8 a.m. CT and Clark Atlanta at 2 p.m. CT.

The Chargers offense totaled 11 base hits in the nonconference tilt, as
Garrett Bodine led the way with three base knocks.
Landon Ezzell and
Jeff Hunter each chipped in two base hits apiece to lead the team.

Hunter, along with
Colin Brewer, drove in a team-high two runs against the Falcons as both players notched extra-base hits on Friday. Hunter's extra-base hit was his first homer of the year, while Brewer cracked his first double of 2022 and 17th of his career.

Kody Keiser started on the mound for the Chargers, as the southpaw hurled 5.2 innings with three runs allowed, two walks and five strikeouts. He received a no-decision in his start.

The Chargers opened up the day's scoring right away in the top of the first as Brewer smashed a ground rule RBI double to center followed by Brewer scoring on an error to make it 2-0 UAH.

Fairmont State went on the board in the bottom half of the first with one run, with UAH responding in the second with an RBI single to right by
Dylan Johnston to push the advantage to 3-1.

A solo homer by FSU's Vince Sabatino in the third made it a one-run game, until the fifth inning when Brewer drove in Bodine from third on a groundout. Hunter provided some insurance for the Chargers in the sixth, drilling an opposite-field, two-run homer to right to extend the lead to 6-2.

The Falcons went on to score once in the bottom of the sixth, before erupting for a seven-run seventh inning to take a 10-6 lead.

FSU scored three more times in the eighth to extend its lead to 13-6, before one run by the Chargers in the bottom of the ninth brought the game to its 13-7 final.

Will Hotalen took the loss in relief to fall to 0-1 on the year, after tossing one-third of an inning with two runs allowed.
