Harris Scores 20 to Eclipse 1,000 Career Points as Chargers Make it Back-to-Back Wins

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team made it back-to-back wins and earned another important conference victory on Monday evening, defeating Auburn Montgomery 73-62 on the road. The Chargers improve to 5-15 (4-11 Gulf South Conference) while the Warhawks fall to 6-15 (1-14 GSC).
 
Holly Harris scored a season-high 20 points in the contest to lead the Chargers and become the 10th player in UAH women's basketball history to score 1,000 career points or more.
 
Head coach Andrea Lemmond has coached four of the ten players that have eclipsed the 1,000 career points milestone for the Blue & White.
 
Harris went 7-for-11 from the field on the night including four three-pointers, another season-high for the Franklin, Tennessee native. She currently ranks fourth all-time in UAH women's basketball history with 172 career 3-pointers made.
 
Selena Pruitt and Miajah Bullock also turned in noteworthy performances for the Chargers as Pruitt scored 15, going 5-for-8 from the field including 3-for-5 from three-point range, and she also recorded three steals while Bullock put up 13 points for her 10th double-digit game this season.
 
Alexis Woods paced all players on both teams with nine rebounds in the contest. Her 8.2 rebounds per game average is seventh best in the GSC. 
 
After a back-and-forth opening, AUM would go up by as many as six with 1:15 left in the first quarter, holding a 19-13 edge before a UAH three-pointer would see the opening stanza close with the Warhawks in front 19-16. The Chargers opened the second half with a 9-0 run to regain the lead which they would never surrender for the rest of the affair, going into the halftime break up 43-32. 
 
Harris would hit her milestone after making her fourth three-pointer of the night when the fourth quarter clock showed 6:33 left to play in the contest, putting the UAH advantage to 11 at 58-47. The Chargers would not lead by less than 10 for the remainder of the final stanza on their way to securing the 73-62 victory.
 
The Blue & White finished the contest shooting 52.8 percent while holding the guests to a 43.9 percent shooting mark and UAH built up a 37-26 edge in rebounds.
 
The Chargers also made 10 team 3-pointers on the night which is a season-high for the squad.
 
UAH will now have one day of rest before traveling to Livingston, Ala. to take on West Alabama on Wednesday evening. Wednesday's contest in Livingston is set to tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
