Chargers Claim Road Win at Embry-Riddle Friday

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team went on the road and picked up a 14-10 win at Embry-Riddle on Friday night. The Chargers improve to 3-1 on the season with the victory, while ERAU slips to 1-2.

UAH matches the 2018 squad for the best record through four contests with the 3-1 start.

UAH's attack was a balanced effort in the victory, led by Ian Arnt and Bryce Ferraro who both scored twice and added an assist, while Brody Phillips matched them with a three-point outing after scoring once and assisting on two other goals.

Five different Chargers had a pair of points in the game with Kyle Light and Will Ford scoring twice and each of Josh Campbell, Reid Vender, and Jake Schramm scoring a goal and logging an assist.

Jake LeVette and Conor Young scored a goal to round out the goal-scorers, and Ryan Craig tallied an assist.

Hunter Coleman led the Chargers with four groundballs.

Zak Welsh was strong in goal for the Chargers, logging a season-high 16 saves.

UAH opened the scoring when Ford tallied just over five minutes into the first quarter, and Ferraro and Arnt would sandwich a pair of ERAU goals to give UAH a 3-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Light's goal would push UAH in front 4-2 before the Eagles scored twice to tie it at 4-4, but Vander and Phillips scored later in the second to give the Chargers a 6-4 advantage at the halftime break.

The third quarter was heavily tilted towards the guests, as each of Ferraro, Arnt, Schramm, and Young scored in the stanza, and UAH would only allow a pair of goals to the hosts to push the lead to 10-6 heading into the final period of play.

Campbell scored to open the fourth, but after that, UAH would have to withstand the hardest push from ERAU as the hosts scored four straight to pull within one. The
Chargers, however, were up to the task and scored three straight while holding the Eagles off the board for the final 6:25 to secure the 14-10 win.

The Chargers will look to continue the hot start to the season on Sunday when the team travels to the other side of the peninsula to take on Saint Leo. That game gets underway at 12 p.m. CT.
