HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team is set to play at Charger Park for the first time in 2022 with a three-game Gulf South Conference series against Union with a doubleheader Saturday starting at noon followed by a single game Sunday at noon.

UAH enters the first home GSC series of the season with an 8-4 overall record and a 0-3 mark in conference play, following three losses at No. 2 Valdosta State this past weekend.

The Chargers offense boasts a .326 team batting average through 12 games this season, led by
Kaylee Vaught with a .467 batting average in addition to three doubles, two triples and a team-best 13 RBI.

Vaught leads a collection of four UAH lineup regulars batting above .300, which also includes
Shelby Booker (.381),
Lila Young (.350) and
Eve Mallard (.300).

In the circle, UAH has two pitchers with 20-plus innings so far with
Layton Murphy owning a roster-best 26.1 innings and
Megan Shurtz logging 23.1 innings. Shurtz additionally has a team-high 20 strikeouts, while issuing just four walks.

Union enters the weekend set with a 5-8 overall record and 2-1 mark in GSC play, following two wins and a loss at home to Lee this past Saturday and Sunday.

Brooke Puckett leads the Bulldogs with a .448 batting average and .586 slugging percentage, while the UU pitching staff has a 4.30 team ERA.

UAH is 20-6 all-time against Union in a series that dates back to the 2013 campaign. The Chargers and Bulldogs last matched up on Feb. 12, 2021, with UAH taking the contest 7-1.
