HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to visiting Delta State by scores of 18-3 and 12-4 on Saturday afternoon in Gulf South Conference action at Charger Park. UAH slips to 6-11 (2-5 GSC), while DSU improves to 8-5 (4-3 GSC).

The Chargers and Statesmen will wrap up the three-game set on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Charger Park.

Delta State 18, UAH 3
The Statesmen powered their way to a game-one win over the Chargers on Saturday, as the visitors rallied for three or more runs in three different innings to guide them to the win.

Carson Villalta was the lone Charger to register a multi-hit performance as he went 2-for-3 out of the cleanup spot with two runs scored.

Jeff Hunter slugged his second home run of the season in the contest with a two-run shot in the bottom of the fourth.
Dylan Johnston also had an extra-base hit in the game with an RBI double in the second.

Kody Keiser started on the mound for the Chargers, as he turned in 4.0 innings with seven earned runs allowed and four strikeouts. His record drops to 0-3 on the year.

Wells Deloney was the Chargers strongest hurler out of the bullpen, tossing a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.

Delta State 12, UAH 4
DSU's offensive prowess carried into game two of the doubleheader with the Statesmen putting up two or more run in four different innings on the way to the 12-4 win in the nightcap over the Chargers.

Landon Ezzell led the UAH offense in game two of the doubleheader with a 2-for-3 day at the plate that included a double and two-run homer. He now has three homers this season.

Will Noles each notched an extra-base hit in the game with a triple and a double, respectively.

Tyler Self made the start on the mound for the Chargers, as he worked 4.1 innings with seven earned runs allowed and four strikeouts. His record slips to 1-2 in 2022.
