HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team dropped the Gulf South Conference series finale by a final score of 6-2 to Delta State on Sunday afternoon at Charger Park. UAH slips to 6-12 (2-6 GSC), while DSU improves to 9-5 (5-3 GSC).

The Chargers offense was led by
Jackson Lindsey with a team-high three base hits that included one double.
Jeff Hunter and
Dylan Johnston also both had a multi-hit performance with two base knocks apiece on the day.

Johnston additionally drove in the Chargers first run of the afternoon with an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth, with
Daniel McCary giving UAH two runs on the day with a solo homer in the ninth.

Landon Ezzell,
Will Noles and
Mitchell Rottier each drew a walk against the Statesmen as well.

Connor Brooks made his fifth start on the mound for the Chargers this season, as he turned in 5.2 innings with one earned run allowed and five strikeouts. His record slips to 2-2 in 2022 with the loss.

Delta State scored one run apiece in the second and fourth innings to own an early advantage, prior to scoring once in the fifth and twice in the seventh to extend its lead to 5-0.

The Chargers went on the board with one run in the eighth off Johnston's RBI double, before the Statesmen regained a five-run advantage with a single run in the top of the ninth.

McCary's solo home run in the bottom of the ninth would bring the game to its 6-2 final score.
