Chargers Cruise Past Visiting Young Harris 16-2 on Saturday

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team stayed perfect in conference play on Saturday, rolling past visiting Young Harris by a 16-2 score at Charger Park. The Chargers improve to 7-6 (3-0 Peach Belt Conference) with the victory, while YHC falls to 0-12 (0-3 PBC).

UAH remains tied with Lander atop the PBC standings at 3-0 after the Bearcats beat Flagler on Saturday to trim the league's unbeatens down to just two.

The offensive attack for the Chargers on Saturday was a balanced one with 13 different players logging a point, led by Preston Deno who had a season-best five points as he scored twice and also added three assists.

Each of Ian Arnt, Reid Vender, and Jake Schramm had three points from two goals and an assist, while Kyle Light scored and picked up a pair of helpers to also have a three-point day. Conor Young and Jax Looby both scored twice, Jake LeVette had a goal and an assist, and both Brayden O'Neill and Ryan Craig scored a goal.

Jacob Thomas, Paul Johnson, and Kayden Hendrickson rounded out UAH's offensive effort with each getting an asssit.

Picking up a team-best five ground balls and going 9-for-13 in faceoffs was Hunter Coleman, while Jack Hendrickson caused a team-best three turnovers.

The Chargers allowed just 20 shots by Young Harris while taking 45 themselves, and the shots on goal differential was 25-12 in favor of the hosts. The Mountain Lions were 23-for-28 in clears compared to a perfect 29-for-29 mark from UAH, and the Blue and White also enjoyed a 33-30 advantage in ground balls.

The contest was never in doubt as UAH scored the first two goals and was leading 2-1 at the 8:56 mark of the first quarter before scoring 14 straight and holding the Mountain Lions off the board until 8:01 remaining in the fourth when the guests scored what ended up being the last marker of the contest.

UAH will now be off until next Saturday when the team ventures to Flagler for the first-ever meeting with the new program. That contest is slated for a noon CT start.
