UAH Finishes Competition at Lee Flames Invitational

CLEVELAND, Tenn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Lee Flames Invitational this weekend, with the men's team finishing first in the team standings and the women's squad notching fourth.
 
Men's Notables
-A total of three runners eclipsed the program record in the 10,000-meter race, including Sam Wilhelm in 12th at 30:11.98, Alex Herbst in 13th at 30:12.70, and Harold Lacroix in 17th at 30:21.67. Each of the three runners topped the NCAA provisional time of 30:35.82 as well as Allan Anderson with a 22nd-place time of 3:34.10.
-Jacob Bishop recorded a new program record with a sixth-place finish in 1500 meters at a time of 3:50.52.
-Zach Hancock notched first-place marks in the discus (55.02 meters), hammer throw (52.15 meters) and shot put (18.36 meters). His tosses in the discus and shot put both top the NCAA provisional standard.
-Trey McFarland won the decathlon with 6291 points, as he finished first in the discus, pole vault, 110 meter hurdles and shot put.
-Michael Gizzi finished second in the 200-meter dash at a clocking of 21.31.
 
Women's Notables
-Ronni VanZant broke the program record in the heptathlon with 4515 points across the seven events. She finished first in 100 meter hurdles, 200 meters, javelin and 800 meters to help her top the NCAA provisional standard in the heptathlon.
-Zakiria Holifield notched a pair of third-place finishes in sprinting events, including the 100 meter at 12.19 and the 200 meter at 24.79.
-The Chargers 100-meter relay team of VanZant, Holifield, Chandler Robinson and Krystalynn Oatman notched first overall with a time of 47.33.
