NASHVILLE, Tenn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team opened up the 2022 campaign at the Trevecca Nazarene Thrasher Invitational on Friday with the Chargers falling to Carson-Newman 3-1 before topping King by a score of 3-0.

UAH is back in action tomorrow with two more matches in the Music City against Lincoln Memorial at 11 a.m. and host Trevecca Nazarene at 7 p.m.

C-N 3, UAH 1 (20-25, 20-25, 25-17, 19-25)
The Chargers fell behind 2-0 after the Eagles won the first two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-23, before UAH stampeded to a 25-17 win in the third to cut the deficit to 2-1. C-N went on to win the match in the fourth by a margin of 25-19 in the frame.

UAH's offense was guided by
Paris Morris who boasted a team-high 12 kills and .294 hitting percentage, while also contributing a roster-leading three total blocks defensively.

Caroline Moyer also notched double-digit kills in her first collegiate contest with 10 kills in addition to a team-best two service aces.

Shayla Libby anchored the Chargers defense with 19 digs – which included 10 scoops in the first set – to go along with five assists on the offensive end.

Laekyn Bennett nearly achieved a double-double with 14 assists and eight digs, with
Colby Charland leading the squad with 15 assists in her first match as a Charger.

UAH 3, KING 0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-16)
The Chargers rebounded in their second match of the day to top the Tornado in three sets, starting with a 25-16 drubbing in the first before holding off a late push by King for a 26-24 win in the second. UAH finished off the day with another 25-16 win in the third frame for the three-set victory.

Freshman
Kaila Sisk guided the Chargers offense with a 10-kill performance to go along with a stellar .556 hitting percentage. Sisk additionally notched a team-high three service aces.

Ally Kennis,
Paris Morris and
Zoe Smith each had seven kills to rank second on the team, with
Caroline Moyer also contributing five successful swats on a .625 swing rate.

Overall in the match, UAH attackers generated a .245 hitting percentage that included marks of .290 and .286 in the first and second set, respectively.

Colby Charland helped UAH to the three-set win with 23 assists, leading a group of four Chargers with four helpers or more.

Shayla Libby again led the Blue & White's defense with 11 digs against King, as she helped the squad to holding the Tornado to a -.048 hitting percentage for the match.
