MONTEVALLO, Ala. | The No. 16 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's cross country team started the 2022 season in winning fashion with a first place team finish at the Montevallo Invitational on Friday morning.

UAH's success on Friday morning was driven by placing eight runners in the top 10 of the field, including the top three spots with
Sam Wilhelm winning the race at a time of 24:29.50.

Wilhelm's time at Montevallo is the ninth-fastest time in an eight-kilometer race in program history and also the fastest of his career.

Allan Anderson notched second place with a clocking of 24:41.14, with
Caleb Boys rounding out the Chargers in the top three with a third-place time of 24:58.24.

Also placing in the top 10 on Friday included
Gabe Henneberger (5th, 25:13.56),
Nathan Knox (6th, 25:15.81),
Will Thompson (7th, 25:16.34), Nate Pohlsander (8th, 25:17.92) and
Jack Elliott (9th, 25:24.07).

UAH also featured performances in the race by
Corey Adamski (12th, 25:39.33),
Jackson Danner (15th, 26:16.09), Colsen Palmer (20th, 26:27.84),

The Chargers now look ahead to the Mississippi College Watson Classic next Saturday in Clinton, Mississippi.
