CLINTON, Miss. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team fell to Mississippi College on the road by a final score of 5-2 on Friday afternoon in Gulf South Conference action. UAH slides to 1-5-2 (0-3-1 GSC), while MC improves to 5-2-0 (3-1-0 GSC).

The Choctaws took an early lead in Friday's matchup with two goals in the initial 10 minutes of play with markers by Caroline Newman in the ninth minute and Beatrice Currie in the 10th.

MC would take a 4-0 advantage into the half after tallies in the 26th minute by Olivia Gelpi and in the 35th minute by Eduarda Silva.

The hosts pushed their lead to 5-0 on Currie's 64th-minute goal, before UAH ended the game with back-to-back goals by
Emily Labus in the 72nd minute and
Maialen Mera Torres in the 88th minute.

Labus's goal was the first of her career, while Mera Torres notches her third goal of the season.

UAH notched six shots on goal against Mississippi College, led by
Jayla Gillespie with two.

Adriana Wright and
Hailey Hicks each spent 45 minutes in goal for the Chargers, combining for 14 saves with Wright notching a team-high 10 stops.

The Chargers look ahead to a 1 p.m. matchup at Delta State on Sunday to continue the road trip.
