BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its weekly men's cross country award winners on Wednesday, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by Sam Wilhelm as GSC Runner of the Week and Nate Pohlsander as GSC Freshman of the Week.
 
This is Wilhelm's first career GSC Runner of the Week honor, while Pohlsander earns his first career GSC weekly award.
 
Wilhelm led the Chargers to a first-place team standing at the Mississippi College Watson Classic this past Saturday with a first-place time of 24:34.30, which was the 11th fastest 8k time in program history.
 
He has now finished first overall in back-to-back races to start the 2022 campaign.
 
Pohlsander was the highest-placing freshman in the race on Saturday in 14th place with a clocking of 25:39.80.
 
UAH looks ahead to the Lewis Crossover on Saturday, Oct. 8 in Romeoville, Illinois.
