BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its 2023 GSC Softball Preseason Coaches' Poll on Wednesday, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team was voted third in the balloting with two first-place votes.

Auburn Montgomery led the vote with 137 points and nine first-place tallies, followed by Valdosta State at 131 points and UAH at 125 points. Both VSU and UAH garnered two first-place votes.

West Florida (113 points), Lee (92 points), West Alabama (90 points), Montevallo (78 points) and Mississippi College (66 points) rounded out the top eight of the poll.

The GSC additionally unveiled its 2023 Preseason All-GSC Team with the Chargers being represented by
Kaylee Vaught and
Megan Shurtz who earned First Team All-GSC in the 2022 campaign.

Also, the GSC Newcomer Watchlist was announced on Wednesday which features
Katie Bracken (Decatur, Ala.), Alex Douthit (Madison, Ala.) and
Josie Thompson (Scottsboro, Ala.).

UAH begins the 2023 campaign on the road in the Sunshine State against Nova Southeastern on Feb. 3 and Barry on Feb. 4, and Palm Beach Atlantic on Feb. 5, prior to the Chargers first action in the Yellowhammer State with the Charger Chillout at Sand Mountain Park in Albertville, Alabama, from Feb. 10-12.
