VALDOSTA, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team dropped Thursday's road matchup at Valdosta State by a final score of 99-77 in Gulf South Conference play. UAH slips to 13-4 (8-3 GSC), while VSU improves to 11-6 (7-4 GSC).

Three Chargers posted 10 points or more on Thursday, led by
Chaney Johnson's 15 points as he also added a team-high seven rebounds and three steals.Â

The first half was tight in the early action between the Chargers and Blazers, and the Chargers would take the lead at the 14:34 mark of the opening half after a jumper from
Chaney Johnson would put the visitors up 16-14. However, Valdosta State would tie the game a minute later and hold the lead for the rest of the half.Â

UAH finished the last 2:18 of the half on an 11-4 run to be within one point of VSU as the hosts held a 43-42 advantage at the break.

The Blazers opened the second half with a 7-0 run to extend their halftime lead to 50-42, and they would not allow the lead to be any slimmer than six points on their way to a 99-77 victory.

The Chargers are back in action on Saturday at 4 p.m. against West Florida in Pensacola, Fla.
