HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team took down the visiting Montevallo Falcons, 2-1 on Sunday afternoon in Gulf South Conference play. UAH moves to 5-3-1 (3-2-1 GSC) while UM now stands at 5-3-2 (2-2-2 GSC).

Montevallo would take the advantage just past 34 minutes in the first half, after Alea Taube found a way to poke home a scramble in the box from a Falcon corner.

The Chargers would respond with just over a minute left to play before halftime, as freshman
Maria Jansen latched onto a through ball from
Maialen Mera Torres to level the game at 1-1.Â

Jansen now has four goals on the season and she ranks first on the roster alongside
Jayla Gillespie.

UAH took the lead ten minutes into the second half, after
Carmen Endicott knocked home a rebound from the right side of the box to make it a 2-1 advantage to the hosts. Montevallo would not be able to convert a penalty later in the half, and the Chargers would hold on to secure a 2-1 victory.

CeCe Szopa played the entire 90 minutes in goal for the Blue & White making three saves in the contest.

The Chargers will take things on the road next, traveling to Memphis, Tennessee to take on Christian Brothers on Friday night before a Sunday afternoon clash with Union in Jackson, Tennessee.
