HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team cruised to its fourth conference victory on Friday night, defeating the visiting Delta State Lady Statesmen 4-1 at Charger Park. The Chargers improve to 6-4-2 (4-3-2 GSC) while DSU drops to 3-9-1 (2-6-0 GSC).

Jayla Gillespie wasted no time putting the hosts in front, latching onto a through ball from
Maria Jansen in the third minute of the game, and it would prove to be the only score in the first half as the two sides would go into the break with the Chargers holding the 1-0 advantage.

Jansen would get on the scoresheet in the 64
th minute, finding the back of the net from 20 yards out to make it a 2-0 UAH lead. Delta State would get one back in the 71
st minute to cut the Charger advantage to 2-1 but the home side would add two more with
Carmen Endicott scoring in the 78
th minute and then converting a penalty just two minutes later to create the 4-1 final score line.

CeCe Szopa played all 90 minutes in goal for UAH for her eighth consecutive contest, making four saves in the victory. Her record on the season now stands at 4-3-2.

The Chargers generated 16 shots with seven on target and were able to create two corner kick opportunities in the match.

UAH returns to Charger Park on Sunday to host Mississippi College at 1 p.m.
