Sam Wilhelm highlighted the UAH cross country teams at the 2023 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships with an All-American performance on Saturday morning with a 40th-place finish in the men's 10k race.

Wilhelm becomes the first All-American in UAH men's cross country history with his program-record time of 30:19.8 for 40th in the 10k race that featured a field of 263 runners.

UAH finished in 27th place as a team in Saturday's men's race, as the squad had three more runners finish in the top 200 including
Nathan Knox (150th, 31:45.2),
Noah George (163rd, 31:52.7), and
Nate Pohlsander (189th, 32:07.9).

The Chargers racing roster on the men's side additionally included
Conner Patterson (213th, 32:24.2),
Will Anglea (221st, 32:37.1), and
Jack Elliott (249th, 33:51.4).

Emily McMurry competed for the Chargers in the women's 6k with an individual berth to nationals, as the Monroe, Ohio, native completed the course at a time of 21:48.4 for 118th overall out of a field of 260 runners.

This was the UAH men's cross country program's ninth all-time appearance at Nationals, while McMurry is the first women's runner for the Chargers to compete at the NCAA Division II Championships since 2021.
