HUNTSVILLE | The UAH women's basketball team notched its first Gulf South Conference victory of the season with a 69-59 win over West Alabama on Sunday afternoon at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. UAH improves to 2-4 (1-2 GSC), while UWA slides to 1-6 (0-3 GSC).

Bellah Machen had the top offensive performance by a Charger so far this season with a 23-point showing off the bench on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor to go along with a 5-for-10 mark on three-pointers on Sunday.

Bella White amassed a team-high seven steals against the Tigers, which are the most since Aryn Sander's eight-steal performance on March 3, 2020. White had a strong all-around performance as well with a team-high seven rebounds and five assists across 32 minutes on the floor.

Haelim Adle played the second-most minutes for head coach
Andrea Lemmond on Sunday with 31 in the contest, as she also added 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Elyse Hughes was strong on both ends of the floor, contributing 12 points and a team-high two blocks. Hughes tied with
Jesse Jennings for second on the roster with 12 points on Sunday.

Overall, the Chargers shot 44.2 percent (23-52) from the field and 41.2 percent (7-17) from beyond the arc, while limiting UWA to 40.0 percent (20-50) form the field and 20 percent (4-20) on three-pointers.

The Blue & White additionally held the edge over the Tigers in second-chance points (12-5), bench points (29-19), points in the paint (30-18), and rebounding (34-28).

UAH is back in action on the road next weekend with GSC games slated at Lee on Friday and Shorter on Sunday.
